Art of Engineering: Racecars

ENGI E1102: The Art of Engineering
Fall 2021

Working with a small project team, I built two Bluetooth-controlled racecars to race around a track during a freshman year engineering expo. The chassis of both cars were constructed from a combination of 3D-printed and laser cut parts, and were built to hold four independent wheel motors, onboard power, an Arduino board and motor shield, and a Bluetooth module. They were controlled from users’ smartphones using a Bluetooth connection and Arduino Software and motor libraries. During the expo, cars raced through a taped out track to cross a finish line monitored by a laser sensor, and winning times were tracked and displayed on a leaderboard.
